The Gold Coast Health Emergency Care Research Team is dedicated to improving the quality, safety and experience of emergency healthcare through research that makes a meaningful difference to patients, clinicians and the wider community.
Based within the Gold Coast health system, our multidisciplinary team brings together clinicians, researchers, consumers and healthcare professionals who are passionate about asking important questions, testing new ideas and translating evidence into better emergency care.
In 2025, our group achieved significant milestones, including the publication of 106 articles in peer-reviewed journals, involvement in more than 150 research projects, and participation in successful grant applications totalling more than $22.4 million dollars.
Our major funders include:
Additionally, we remain committed to fostering a culture of mentorship by encouraging pillar leads, clinicians and senior research nurses to supervise students and operational nurses in research endeavours. In 2025, more than 20 students from Bond University and Griffith University actively participated in our clinical audits and research projects and 15 GCHHS staff members were supported while they completed their master’s or a PhD under the supervision of our Pillar leads.
Since 2011, our contributions to publications and research funding, whether as lead investigators or named collaborators, have shown a consistent upward trajectory.
