Paediatrics is a branch of medicine dedicated to the treatment and specialised care of infants, children and adolescents.
Paediatric Inpatient unit and Day Unit
There is a 32 bed inpatient children’s ward located on the Ground floor B block, for inpatients and day patients.
The rooms are a mixture of single, two bed and four bed rooms with sleeping spaces for parents at the bedside.
It has an outdoor play deck, school room and Radio Lollipop station manned by volunteers, broadcasts evenings and weekends.
There is a Ronald McDonald family area within the ward for parents to take a break from the clinical surroundings while remaining close to their child’s bedside.
There is a school room staffed by Queensland Education school teachers providing children with four days per week of teaching during school terms.
